"Finish off PET" Campaign
environmental social campaign
A nationwide environmental campaign entitled "UNSCREW–CRUMPLE-SEGREGATE" has just been launched. This campaign, initiated by Kłodzko Spa Complex S.A., the producer of Staropolanka mineral water and the Advertising Agency adStone, aims to promote collecting and recycling plastic PET bottles and promoting environmentally friendly attitudes.
IDEA OF CAMPAIGN
Although PET bottles appeared on the market more than 20 years ago, they are still indispensable. They have many advantages - they are light, do not break, and do not make noise on bottling lines. It is commonly believed that PET, being a modern, ecological and inexpensive material, is not threatened by other materials. On the contrary, PET displaces many kinds of traditional packaging on the market. A rapid increase of the use of PET bottles creates environmental problems. Because of the exceptionally short life span of this package, PET very quickly becomes waste. Although these packages do not constitute a direct threat to the environment, they are troublesome because they take up a lot of space.
Ecological and economic reasons incline to subject PET waste to recycling. For this purpose it is not only necessary to segregate garbage, but also to have an appropriate attitude towards it; that's why we encourage you to:
UNSCREW - Many of us have learned to segregate garbage and throw plastic bottles to specially marked containers; however, we do not pay attention to details, i.e. not unscrewed, not crumpled, not emptied bottles. And that is where the essence of the problem lies. The screwed bottles collect compressed air during pressing. Because of their greater number, when being removed from the bundling presses the binding tapes are torn because of expansion. It quite a common situation, which often causes downtime and reduces performance by up to five times. Some of the factories sorting garbage have begun counteracting this procedure - they carry out a process of unscrewing caps - which significantly slows down the technological process. It seems that a solution for this problem is an installation of perforators of waste before its compaction. We have our own solutions, better and cheaper - unscrewing of disposed bottles.
CRUMPLE - Throwing away bottles in their natural shape means that the containers are filled very quickly. Let's crumple the disposed PETs. Limiting the volume of waste is both ecological and economical. It is an activity which doesn't demand a lot of effort and significantly contributes to the protection of the environment.
SEGREGATE - Drawing the attention of society to the basics, we also refer to the appropriate process of sorting garbage. Special containers, which more and more often replace traditional bins, have their own particular application. By sorting garbage in the right way we contribute to a significant shortening of subsequent disposal or recycling processes. That is why our role in the segregation of garbage is very important.
"Finish off PET"
The campaign based on the idea "Unscrew-Crumple-Segregate" is addressed to adolescents. In order to create an environment-friendly society we have to begin as soon as possible. The youth is a social group which is relatively the most adaptable to change and at the same time has the highest criticism for stagnant reality. In the desired model, young people consider themselves the subject of a positive eco-friendly change. It means that they are aware of the negative experience of the older generations, of accumulated bad habits, and they want to actively overcome these experiences and habits.
Addressing the campaign strictly to young people aims to emphasize their independence in deciding on such crucial issues as protection of the environment and ecology.
